Alternative Provision

The referral process is simple and straightforward. Just download the application, fill it out and send to referrals.angling4education@gmail.com

We are always working at capacity and the average waiting time is 4-6 weeks however it can be shorter and sometimes longer. Feel free to email referrals.angling4education@gmail.com for current waiting times, please state the age and location of the child/young person requesting information on. Please also note that we will only be able to give an estimation of waiting time.

Waiting times are influenced by a number of factors including the needs of the student, their location, their availability and ours – and it would be good to establish whether you think the need is for 121 work or whether we should be considering small groups or duos etc – details below.

We do not have any specific criteria for our provision however children and young people referred to our One-to-One programme are normally of a complex nature and are unable to manage groups at the point of referral.  However, with referrals to our groups, we need to be as confident as possible they can manage small groups. Group referrals: It is important to us that we consider each case individually, as well as group dynamics to ensure the best possible chance of success.

We would prefer to start children and young people on One to One and then progress them onto a group if there are any doubts around suitability for a group.

The number of sessions delivered onto a One-to-One Programme varies significantly. The minimum number of One-to-One sessions is 6 and there is no maximum as we are happy to work with children and young people long term if suitable. The minimum number of sessions that can be booked for groups are a full term (12-14 dependent on term length).  All our programmes are reviewed every half term to ensure provision remains meaningful and effective.

In order to achieve the desired impact, generally we look for at least a term long commitment to the provision where possible. We can also consider longer pieces of work, where aims and objectives are clear and can be monitored and measured by way of regular review.

Sessions run from: 9.30am – 2.30pm term time only

Following a suitability assessment, transport is included in all one-to-one sessions.   In some circumstances in group sessions, we may need to ask for transport support, but this will be discussed with individual cases.

Yes – If you would like to bring a provision to an end there is a 28-day notice period. Please find our terms and conditions on the ‘Documents’ page of the website.

The provision is hugely flexible, and person centred, whilst activities are predominately outdoors, they can include Fishing, Bushcraft, Orienteering, Museum Visits, Arts, Music, Cooking and more …. the activity of course is just the vehicle to engagement, and it is better to think of the intervention in terms of Social and Emotional Development.  Each Programme is co-produced with the Children and Young People and their perspective networks of Adults and Professionals to best meet their needs and objectives.

Angling4Education are an approved alternative provision provider.  Angling4Education follow safer recruitment guidelines and all staff are subject to an enhanced DBS and Barred list check.  For more information or to read our policies and documents please go to ‘Documents’ page on our website where you can download all our policies and documents.

Family sessions only – Children and Young People must be accompanied by an adult for all Family sessions

If you are concerned, we are happy to discuss your child’s need in advance of a session and help to select the right session for them and ensure the best possible chance of success.  Please get in contact.

Please note: Our staff are not medically trained and cannot administer medicines.  Where medicines are required and Children Young People can appropriately self medicate – then medicines should be provided by Parents/Carers i.e., inhalers etc. In cases where needs are complex and/or medical, and following discussion, Carers are also welcome to attend alongside participants at no extra cost.  Children and young people will not be able to use their own fishing equipment

Please consider these to be ‘all weather’ activities and be mindful of the weather forecast in terms of footwear, clothes, coats, hats etc.  We ask Parents/Carers to provide Sun cream if needed and anything else your child might need to keep them safe and comfortable.

You can cancel a session up to 72 hours before the start of a session and receive a full refund.

Angling4Education reserve the right to cancel a session on the grounds of extreme weather conditions ie, very high winds, flooding, thunderstorm.
